Delegates' conference (Germany)
|
|
|
The delegate conference will be held at the Lithuanian Secondary College in Vasario 16 Gimnazija, Hüttenfeld, Germany.
Hüttenfeld is a small and tranquil town that is the cultural center of Lithuanians living in Western European. Within the college grounds there are not only classrooms and dormitories, but also a castle, a park with a lake and various sporting facilities.
The delegate conference is the formal component of the congress. During the conference various discussions, symposiums, work groups and lectures are held. The main purpose of the delegate conference is to formulate the future direction and policy of World Lithuanian Youth Association (PLJS); that is, to vote on policy resolutions and elect the next PLJS executive. The time and location of the next congress is also determined at the conference.
If you wish to participate at the conference as a delegate, you must register with your country's Lithuanian Youth Association (LJS). The number of delegates is limited by the PLJS constitution. To become a delegate you must be elected by your country's LJS. For further information about the duties and responsibilities of delegates, please contact your local LJS or the PLJS.
It is possible to attend the formal conference as an unelected observer, rather than a delegate. Observers have no voting rights but can participate in all aspects of the conference programme, identically to an elected delegate with the exception of the right to vote.
The formal part of the conference will be broken up into two excursions and various social activities. The first excursion will be to the historic and romantic city of Heidelberg that has one of the most impressive old city quarters in the world. The second excursion is a boat trip along the Rhine River, visiting various wineries along the way. These and other social activities will help delegates relax after the stressful discussions had during the day. Participants will enjoy a traditional German feast and associated traditional activities. On another evening, delegates will be able to display their talents during a "talent show".
The congress closing ceremony will be held on Saturday the 26th of July, after which all participants will be able to return home.
